During the 2019 Le Guess Who? Festival, the LiGHT-UP collective, in collaboration with Triomf Utrecht’s decor builders, embarked on a city-wide projection tour. Their creative vision illuminated multiple festival venues across Utrecht, including Tivoli Vredenburg and club WAS, both inside and out, filling the city with light, art, and joy.

The project was developed as part of the Le Guess Who? Festival 2019, an annual event in Utrecht that celebrates music and the arts. By integrating artistic projections into the festival venues, the project aimed to enhance the festival’s atmosphere and connect the audience with the city on a visual level.
The team worked closely with Triomf Utrecht to create unique projections for various festival locations. Each venue was designed to offer a distinct visual experience, with light installations tailored to complement the interior and exterior spaces of iconic locations like Tivoli Vredenburg and club WAS.
The installation involved large-scale outdoor projections, creative use of architectural spaces, and light mapping. By projecting onto festival venues, the project infused the streets and buildings of Utrecht with a dynamic and festive atmosphere that resonated with the city’s cultural spirit.
