On Friday evening, March 3, the provincial house of Noord-Holland was bathed in a glow of colorful light. A group of Noord-Holland youth, in collaboration with the LiGHT-UP collective, projected their stories of freedom onto the building’s facade.
The project was prepared in January during a workshop day at the Fort aan de St. Aagtendij in Beverwijk. There, the youth, invited by the province, explored the question: "What is the language of freedom for you?" They were challenged to express their stories of freedom through the medium of light art.
The photo and film footage of the light projections from Friday evening will be on display from March 24 to May 5, 2017, at the Dreef Exhibition on Freedom in Paviljoen Welgelegen.
Light art and projections created by Noord-Holland youth, guided by the LiGHT-UP collective, in collaboration with the Province of Noord-Holland.
This project was part of a broader initiative by the Province of Noord-Holland to engage young people in reflecting on and expressing their ideas of freedom. Through a workshop and creative light art installation, the participants transformed their thoughts and stories into visually striking projections on the provincial house.
The creative process began with a workshop at the Fort aan de St. Aagtendijk, where the youth explored the concept of freedom through storytelling and artistic expression. Guided by the LiGHT-UP collective, they developed their stories into light art pieces, culminating in the colorful projection on the facade of the provincial house.
The project utilized projection technology and creative workshops to empower youth to share their freedom stories in a public and impactful way. The final projections transformed the provincial house into a symbol of self-expression and community, sparking dialogue on the meaning of freedom.
