Vrijstaat students explored the captivating world of light drawing and animation with the LiGHT-UP collective, resulting in the creation of an interactive installation in collaboration with visual artist Jan Willem Campmans. The project blended traditional illustration with digital techniques, bringing hybrid animals designed by the students to life through animation.
Interactive installation created by the students of Vrijstaat, in partnership with Jan Willem Campmans and the LiGHT-UP collective.
This educational project was designed to introduce Vrijstaat students to the intersection of traditional and digital art forms. Through workshops on light drawing and animation, students learned how to translate their illustrations into an animated, interactive display, showcasing the potential of blending classical and modern techniques.
Students were guided through the creative process of light drawing and animation, where they crafted hybrid animals through traditional illustration. These drawings were then digitized and animated, culminating in an interactive installation that showcased the transformation of their artwork into moving, living forms.
The project utilized a combination of traditional illustration tools and digital animation software. The installation encouraged hands-on participation from the students, blending education with artistic expression in an engaging and collaborative environment.
